FynOps MCP Server
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP-capable AI client questions about your companies and get answers from the data already imported into FynOps. The connection is read-only by default and limited to one workspace with your own FynOps account sign in. If you allow it, the client can also propose changes that a person approves in FynOps.
Server address
https://mcp.fynops.comInside FynOps you can copy the same address from Settings, then MCP. Any MCP client that supports remote servers with sign-in can connect. You do not register the client with FynOps first.
Connect your AI client
- In your AI client, add a custom connector (a remote MCP server) and enter the FynOps server address shown above.
- The client sends you to FynOps to sign in. Use your existing FynOps account. This is not a separate MCP account, and you never paste a key, password or token into the client.
- On the consent screen, confirm the client name and the permission to read, choose the one workspace you authorize, and decide whether to tick "Let it make changes to the books". It is unticked by default, and with it unticked the client can only read. Only workspaces you can currently access are offered.
- Approve. The client receives a short-lived access token that it renews itself for as long as the connection stays approved. Deny, and no connection is created.
- Ask a question about your companies. Ask the client to state the coverage and freshness of any number it reports from FynOps data.
Setup by client
Claude
Settings > Connectors > Add custom connectorPaste the FynOps server address and complete the FynOps sign-in and consent screen. This path is verified end to end.
ChatGPT
Settings > Connectors > Add or create a custom connectorPaste the FynOps server address and complete the sign-in and consent screen. Custom connectors are a paid-plan feature in ChatGPT and, for some accounts, an administrator must enable them for the workspace. If no option to add a custom connector appears, that is an OpenAI-side setting, not a FynOps error.
What your AI client can do
The server offers these tools. Your client chooses them for you, so you only ask in plain language. Tools that propose changes work only if you allowed changes when you connected.
list_companies
Lists the companies you can currently see in the authorized workspace, worded for your industry, such as Firm and Client for accountancy.
list_integrations
Lists one company's connected systems with the records and fields you can query, how fresh each is and how much history was imported.
get_integration_data
Returns a bounded set of records, or totals computed by FynOps, from one connected system, such as QuickBooks Online or HighLevel.
search and fetch
Find pages, companies, people, files and records you are allowed to see, then fetch one result. These are the standard names ChatGPT deep research and company knowledge look for.
Read the books
get_company_profile, get_transactions, get_master_data, run_report, get_bank_feed, list_files, get_file, books_glance and list_changes read the accounting system's records and reports, the bank feed, files, and the changes already proposed.
Propose changes (opt in)
record_bill, record_invoice and the other record_ tools, manage_master_data, categorize_bank_transactions, attach_document, send_document, void_transaction and undo_change propose changes to the accounting system. Each is held in FynOps for a person with approval rights to apply. They work only on a connection where you ticked "Let it make changes to the books".
Close, tasks and memory
close_run, reconciliation, tasks, memory, saved_reports and manage_categorization_rules work with FynOps itself: month-end close readiness, bank reconciliations, the shared task list, lessons your firm keeps, saved report definitions and categorization rules. They do not write to your accounting system.
Example questions
- Which companies can I report on, and how current is the data for each?
- How much do customers currently owe us, grouped by currency?
- What bills are due in the next 30 days, and how much do we owe?
- Who are our top ten customers by payments received?
- How is our welcome email automation performing? Opens, clicks and unsubscribes.
When a question could mean more than one thing, such as revenue, calls or hours spent, the client is instructed to ask you what you mean instead of guessing. Call durations are scheduled calendar time, not proof of attendance or actual talk time.
Disconnect and revoke access
All three take effect immediately. The client stops working on its very next request.
- In FynOps, open Settings, then MCP. It lists every client connected to the workspace. Disconnect revokes that connection and every token under it. Everyone can disconnect their own connections, and workspace administrators can disconnect anyone's.
- In your AI client, remove or disconnect the FynOps connector in its connector settings. This revokes the connection in FynOps too.
- Change access. Removing the connecting person from the workspace, or removing the permission a tool needs, stops the client on its next request.
Troubleshooting
The client can't finish setup
Confirm you entered exactly https://mcp.fynops.com as the server address, then add the connector again.
Asked to reconnect again and again
The access token expired mid-session or the connection was revoked. Reconnect the connector. If it recurs right away, an administrator may have removed your workspace membership or permission.
A company or system I expect isn't there
Check that you authorized the right workspace at consent and that you still have access to that company in FynOps. FynOps does not distinguish between something that does not exist and something you cannot see.
The result looks incomplete or old
Ask the client for the coverage and freshness of the data. A stale result is still returned, but marked. FynOps answers from imported data and never starts an import when you ask a question.
A field or filter was rejected
The name is not available for that record type. Ask the client to check the published tool schema. An unsupported name fails before any query runs and is never silently ignored.
The client says this connection can read only
You approved it without "Let it make changes to the books", or an administrator turned changes off for you. Disconnect it in FynOps under Settings, then MCP, and connect again with the box ticked, or ask your administrator.
Too many calls
A rate limit was reached. Wait for the time given in the response before retrying.
