You can now ask Claude or ChatGPT questions about the books and CRM data your firm already imports into FynOps, and, if you choose, have the assistant propose bookkeeping changes for your team to review. Revenue by month, what customers owe, bills coming due, untagged contacts, a draft bill from a PDF: ask in plain English and get an answer or a proposal built from your own data, without exporting a spreadsheet.
This guide covers how to connect, what the assistant can and cannot see or change, and how to disconnect.
There is no API key to create and nothing to install. You sign in with your existing FynOps login.
https://mcp.fynops.com/ and click Connect. You are returned to Claude, and FynOps appears in your connectors.
https://mcp.fynops.com/.The exact menu wording in ChatGPT changes from time to time, but the address and the FynOps sign-in are always the same.
Questions (work on every connection):
Proposals (only on a connection where you ticked Let it make changes to the books):
If a question could mean more than one thing, such as which calendar counts as "calls", the assistant will ask you rather than guess.
By default it only reads. A connection you approve without ticking Let it make changes to the books cannot create or change anything in FynOps, QuickBooks, HighLevel, or any other system.
If you allow changes, it proposes and a person approves. Bills, invoices, payments, journal entries and similar records the assistant prepares are held as a change set in FynOps under Audit & Approvals, then Changes. Nothing is posted to your accounting system until someone with approval rights applies it. You can reject any of them.
Voids and sent emails need your explicit yes. Voiding a document or emailing one from your accounting system cannot be undone, so the assistant first shows you the document, date and amount and waits for your confirmation, and the change is still held for approval after that. If your assistant cannot show a confirmation, it asks you to repeat the request with an explicit confirmation instead.
Some things happen in FynOps directly. Categorization rules, tasks, saved report definitions and the match, exclude and restore actions on bank lines change FynOps only, never your accounting system. A lesson the assistant saves to your firm's memory stays pending until a person accepts it. Attesting or reopening a close period and locking a reconciliation with a difference are always done by a person in FynOps.
Your administrators stay in control. A workspace administrator can switch off changes from AI assistants for any member. Without that, you need the ordinary permission to propose ledger changes on the company.
It sees one workspace. You choose exactly one workspace when you connect. To use a different one, connect again and approve that workspace.
It sees only what you can see. The assistant gets the same companies and integrations your own FynOps account has access to, and that is checked on every single request. If your access changes, the assistant's access changes with it immediately.
It reads from imported data. Answers come from the data FynOps has already imported, never from live calls to your providers. Every answer includes how complete and how current that data is, so you can tell when a number might be incomplete.
It never receives your credentials. Your QuickBooks, HighLevel, and other provider logins stay in FynOps.
What it can read from contacts. For contact-based reports, the assistant can read contact details such as name, company, email, phone, assigned user, source, and tags. It cannot read notes, message bodies, conversations, or any login credentials.
Everything is recorded. Each request is written to your audit trail. Proposed changes show which assistant made them.
You can disconnect at any time, from either side. Both take effect immediately.
The MCP page in FynOps also lists every assistant you have connected to the workspace and when each was approved.
"Sign-in required" appears again later. Connections renew automatically, but a disconnect, a password change, or losing access to the workspace ends one. Connect again.
The assistant says it cannot find a company. It can only see companies your FynOps account can see in the workspace you approved. Check you approved the right workspace, and that you have access to that company in FynOps.
The assistant says this connection can read only. You approved the connection without ticking Let it make changes to the books. Disconnect it in FynOps and connect again with the box ticked.
The assistant says an administrator turned off changes. A workspace administrator has switched off changes from AI assistants for you. Ask them to turn it back on.
Numbers look low or out of date. Ask how current the data is. The assistant reports when each integration last imported. If an import is behind, reconnect or refresh that integration in FynOps.
I don't see an option to add a custom connector. That comes from your Claude or ChatGPT plan or workspace settings, not FynOps. Check your plan, or ask your workspace admin to enable custom connectors.
